Valentine's Day

Saturday we went to a little ward Valentine’s party. The guys met at the church a little bit earlier and did a little amazing race thing. It ended up being a lot more low key than Drew was expecting, but he put his game face on and his team ended up winning. Then we all met up at our bishop's house for a really nice dinner. We got t-shirts that said "I love my wife" and "I love my husband." I don't know that everyone was as into that as I was. I just LOVE getting new t-shirts! I'm also pretty sure I ate more dessert than anyone else there. I ate so much and felt so gross when I left. I wanted to get pictures in our shirts but we ended up forgetting to grab our camera from our friend before we left the party.

On Valentine's Day I made some heart-shaped pink pancakes which ended up being a lot harder to shape than I thought they would be. I need to work on my skills in that area I guess. A lady in our ward had given Darcy some bread the night before at the party. She had never tried it before but she handled it just fine, so I let her have a little taste of some pink pancake too. Then we all wore pink to church. I took some pictures of Darcy when we got home because I thought she looked extra cute. I just love her tights!

Darcy thoroughly enjoyed opening her v-day package from Grandma and Grandpa Christensen. She wrestled it around the room. I can't wait for summer so she can wear this cute hat outside in the sun!
Isn't she the cutest!?
This is kind of a random picture for this post, but here she is in her new high chair from Ikea. (It was cheap, but it works.)
Here is Drew with his Valentine's pancakes.
Darcy with her pancake. (She really only had a few crumbs from it.)

Here she is rolling around with her present. It's probably a horrible thing to say, but she reminds me a little bit of Jack Nicholson with her hair in a ponytail on top of her head like this. :)
And here she is in the cute hat. We think it is so funny to have her stand like this. Her knee area just kills me! I failed to get a picture of the cute outfit that matches the hat and the book that also came in that package. Thanks G&G Christensen!

Snow Continued

Saturday afternoon after it had stopped snowing we decided we wanted to go for a drive (Drew was dying to go drive the pick-up around in the snow). We ended up visiting some friends and bringing our friends Rich and Brittany back to our house to play in the snow. Drew, Rich, and Brittany got to work building a snow cave. It was way bigger than I was expecting. I stayed inside with Darcy for the most part, but every time someone closed the door to go outside without her she would cry. She wanted to get in on the action. I ended up bundling her up and taking her out. After the snow cave was done I let Drew take her in it, but she was NOT happy and it kind of freaked me out so that didn't last long. I ended up going in it for a minute just for a picture. The entrance was too small for my taste though. I'm a little claustrophobic.

The city has kind of been shut down because of all the snow but with out trusty four-wheel drive pick-up with serious tires we have been able to go anywhere we want. Sunday we got a call saying church was "optional." I thought that was pretty funny. Isn't it always optional? We always have to choose to go. I know what they were meaning and where they were coming from but I just thought the wording was funny. We ended up going because we can get around just fine. They only had sacrament meeting. The man in our bishopric conducting the meeting had walked most of the way to church until his married son came and picked him up.

School has been canceled for Drew for the past three days which has been pretty nice. This was supposed to be a really busy week for him and it has ended up being fairly mellow instead.
The builders. (I did end up doing a tiny bit of shoveling, but it hardly counted.)
Drew and I inside the cave. Pretty big huh?
Rich and Brittany by the entrance of the cave.
Darcy and I all bundled up.
Drew in the entrance of the snow cave.
Driving out of our complex. Not fun for driving (unless you're Drew) but beautiful to look at!

Snowy Surprise!

Yesterday morning there was no snow on the ground. It started snowing around noon yesterday, but didn't start sticking until the evening. It hasn't stopped since it started and this is what we woke up to this morning. I don't even know if I saw this much snow collect over night in Rexburg! It's pretty...but I hope it stops soon or we will be snowed in.
Up to my knees!
My bike is sitting outside our back door and it's buried. Look at the cone-head of snow on the seat!

6 Months!

Darcy's 6 month birthday was on Saturday, but she went to the doctor yesterday for her checkup. It wasn't very fun at all. She HATES when the doctor and nurse touch her and especially when she has to lay on the bed and I'm not holding her. I was a little bothered because first a doctor in training came in and checked everything and Darcy hated it, and even after all of her screaming they had the real doctor come in and do everything all over again. I thought it was a little bit cruel considering how much Darcy hated it. Even after the doctor left Darcy screamed and screamed and the nurse who then had to give her three shots took forever to come it. We were both happy to get out of there! I really hate shots, and judging by her reaction so does Darcy.

Things we want to remember about Darcy's sixth month:

- 18 lbs. 2 oz. Less than last month, but last month I just weighed her on my scale so it probably wasn't as accurate. 27 1/4 inches. (95% for height)

- We have experienced a miracle with her sleeping this month. I never ended up reading Babywise just doing what other people (mostly my sister-in-law Sharee) said Babywise says to do. We let her scream it out basically and it really was only a couple nights of it and now she only cries for a couple minutes and sometimes not at all. It is wonderful!! She goes to bed between 8 and 8:30, wakes up at 3 or 4 to eat and then wakes up for the day between 7 & 7:30. Her naps are so much better (aka longer) too.

- She is sitting up by herself now.

- She rolls around the room.

- She has decided sometimes she just wants me to hold her, but she is very happy to see Drew. She always squeals when he comes in the room.

- She "talks" soo much.

- She does raspberries with her tongue all the time.

- She is eating all sorts of new things: rice cereal, oat cereal, green beans, peas, squash, carrots, peaches, pears, and bananas. She loves it all!

- She has one little tooth.

- She grabs everything she can reach and wants to put everything in her mouth.

- She loves baths.
The close up. We just love those blue eyes!
I tried to do the usual monthly picture with her laying on my leg, but she wasn't having it. Here she is sitting up!
She LOVES my umbrella. She spotted it one day and now she always wants to touch it and play with it.
She makes this face all the time now. We call it her old man face. (Thanks for the cute shirt Laura!!)
