On April 7th Parks turned one. His birthday was a little bit rough because he wasn't feeling so great. He had and actually still has a pretty nasty cold. Our normally really happy guy was pretty miserable and sad. That didn't stop him from devouring his cake though. He knew exactly what to do and dug right in.
Some things we want to remember about Parks at 1:
- 22 lbs. 11 oz. (72%). 29 1/2 inches (37%). We have lots of people tell us he looks tall, so it's funny that he's on the lower end in the height department.
- He took one step the day before his birthday, and Drew says we're counting that! Haha! Really he doesn't seem very interested in walking quite yet. We got him a little walker for his birthday and he loves pushing it around, but so far he doesn't want to try on his own. It will come.
- He is a pro at saying "Hi" with a big smile on his face every time. He waves goodbye. He claps when we say, "yay!"
- He is such a friendly little man and loves to have people smile at and talk to him. Peek-a-boo can really win him over quickly.
- He loves baths and comes cruising into the bathroom when he hears the water running.
- He has four teeth which seems to be causing some problems in the food department. He is not our best eater by any means. Almost anything new we give him (that isn't sweet) he spits out immediately. It is starting to drive me a little bit crazy.
- He loves loves loves to be outside. If anyone goes out and he hears the door open and close without him it makes him so sad. I let him loose in the back yard on nice days and he loves to be free out there. He especially enjoys playing in and eating the dirt.
I have now done this 12 times and every time except this very last one he laid there happily to have his picture taken. This time he was happy, but he didn't want to lay there. I would roll him over and try to snap a picture as fast as I could before he flipped over and got up. He was spoiling me before I guess.
