Mother's Day started off pretty rough for me. Darcy is a TERRIBLE sleeper when she's not in her bed in her room and we got another taste of that Saturday night, which means I didn't get to sleep either. I was so tired and when I don't get enough sleep it makes me feel sick. We got ourselves together and went to church. The speakers were so great, but because I was tired I was an emotional wreck and I bawled like a baby through the whole meeting whether there was something to cry about or not. Darcy was tired and cranky too so we just went home and slept for a couple hours. After that the day was really great! :)
I need a new diaper bag because mine is falling apart (which makes me sad because I really love it). I didn't plan on getting one for a while though because right now we are really trying to pinch our pennies for the closing of our house. Drew told me for Mother's Day that my present was a new diaper bag, but he's going to let me choose because that's out of his league. :) I thought it was the perfect present, and I am excited to start looking.
I am so grateful for all the mothers in my life and their great examples. I was an annoying teenager, but now that I am a little older my mom is one of my best friends and I love it! She has always been the most amazing example of righteousness, love and service. I know in Drew's eyes his mom sits up on a pedestal, and I agree! Everyone that knows her loves her. My Grandmas and Drew's Grandmas are all fabulous mothers! I have aunts, sisters, cousins, friends, etc. etc. etc. that are great mothers and I am so grateful for all of them. I wish I could talk about each of them, but my own motherly duties are calling so I have to wrap things up.
I am so grateful to be a mother myself. Darcy fills up my world and makes it happy. Every night while I lay in bed I think about the sweet little person sleeping in the room next to me and sometimes I think my heart might explode because I love her SO much. Being a mom is the most precious gift, and I thank my Heavenly Father for that blessing every day.
Happy Mother's Day to all!
Here are some pictures of the little lady that made me a mom and how she made me happy this week.
I just wanted to add a couple other tidbits of info. about Darcy:
- She HATES motorcycles. This is a real bummer because there are too many men surrounding her that are really into them. She cries when she sees or hears them. The first couple times she was around them she started shaking because she was so scared.
- She really loves to sing Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree and The Wheels on the Bus.
- She is starting to really get into books.
- Drew figured out how to play Twinkle Twinkle on the guitar and Darcy sings along with him. It's so cute! She really just says something that sounds like "tinka, tinka, tinka" over and over while he sings the real version, but we love it.

It looks like she was also saying her prayers before her nap. What a good girl!
I'm glad you had a good Mother's Day. I'm sorry that Darcy didn't sleep well though. That's a bummer. They get so comfortable in their bed in their house, which is good, but then not when you go anywhere. That's tough. Hopefully she will get better.
