The morning after we got there we got took a ride on the train into Salt Lake. The train ride was one of the most exciting parts of the day for the kids.
Our first stop was the church history museum. Laura and I have a picture similar to this with our cousins by this covered wagon, so we tried to recreate it.
Upstairs Darcy and Lindy found this spot to try on some fancy skirts and learn some Mexican dances.
They even had a skirt my size! :)
After the church history museum we went to an outdoor mall with a little splash pad/fountain where the kids played in the water and had so much fun.
Laura and Milas have these three little girls that Darcy loved spending a few days with. Left to right: Lindy, Darcy, Lydia, and Liza.
Then we headed inside to the food court where Luke met us with his three kids to play at this amazing play place. The kids played for a couple hours here.
Darcy and Sam
Michael the monkey. This little guy has some serious climbing skills!!
Dog pile on Ashley!
Our kids' clothes were soaked from playing in the splash pad so Laura and I bought them some new clothes at H&M there in the mall. We thought it would be fun to have our girls all have matching dresses.
That night Emily went through the temple for the first time to get her endowments. It was so cool to be there with my whole family (minus Ashley who's not old enough yet). The Bountiful temple is so beautiful and huge!
The next day we got up and worked our tails off making the cupcakes for the reception. My dad's cousin has this awesome second kitchen in her basement that she let us use to do our baking. We were making cupcakes ALL DAY! Who knew you could be so tired and worn out from making cupcakes?!
We made lime cupcakes with lemon filling, blueberry cupcakes with raspberry filling, and coconut cupcakes with a pineapple filling. They were deeeelicious!
My dad's cousin had this amazing playroom with the best dress up clothes we have ever seen. We were always serious about dress up as kids so this really felt like the jackpot to us!
More dress up.
I didn't have a bed there for Ezra, but he finally got SO completely exhausted that he just fell asleep on this bed.
While we slaved away in the kitchen Drew went with my dad and brothers to ride motorcycles. They had lots of mishaps and bike trouble, but lived to tell the tale. I think they at least had a little fun in there somewhere. (Nick and Drew)
Luke and my dad.
Saturday was the big day!! Karl and Emily had such a beautiful wedding and we are so excited for them. This is the best picture I got of them together unfortunately.
Emily with all her nieces and nephews from our side. Ezra was not having this picture taking business. He was too tired for the majority of our trip.
The cake and cupcakes at the reception. (Before the crazy rain storm that chased us inside!)
They had this awesome in-ground trampoline at the house where the reception was that Drew plans to duplicate in our back yard. The kids loved it. I can't wait!
My cousin Laura, my cousin Kenny, and I. We were all born within a few months of each other and my grandma asked us to take a picture together to duplicate one she has of us when we were little.
My mom's family. Left to right- Karen, Kurt (doing the classic hand pose to make fun of me), Glenn, Beth, Mom, Clark, Grandpa, Grandma.
Drew was staying up late and waking up really early, and I was trying to convince him to stay another day to rest a little before we drove home. He really needed to get back home for work though so we got up bright and early and headed home. He drove for the first few hours while the rest of us slept. When I woke up he looked like he was really struggling to keep his eyes open and he told me he had fallen asleep for a second. That freaked me out, and I took over!
While I was driving and Drew was sleeping I was watching our gas gauges closely. It was saying we had 0 miles left for quite a while, but we made it to a gas station thankfully! Now I know I can go a long ways when it's telling me I can't go any further.
