My mom bought Darcy this dress last fall when she was here and I had her get a bigger size because at that point Darcy was growing so fast, but then she basically just stopped growing. So last year she was never big enough to wear it in the fall. Luckily, a year later, she fit in it for fall. I just love this dress!!
Again in her church outfit. We went to an air show with her a couple weeks ago and we would always point up at the planes. Now she is really good at recognizing the sound of an airplane or jet even if it's far away, and she always points up into the sky when she hears them. While I was trying to get a picture of her in her cute outfit a jet just happened to fly over.
We are in the stage where Darcy wants to try to feed herself. Nine out of ten times she makes a huge mess. Spaghetti was particularly messy, but she loved it! You should have seen the floor.
Darcy has started scrunching up her nose and sniffing. It is one of my favorite things.

What is Going On?
I just have some questions for all the baby experts out there. Darcy has started throwing fits. I really really don't like it. If she doesn't get exactly what she wants or if I take something away from her she thrashes around and sometimes even tries to bite me! I can't figure out where she got that. Drew and I certainly haven't been biting her when we're mad. :) Does anyone have any ideas or things you have tried for this kind of thing?
Also, I think I will never go shopping again. She doesn't want to stay in the cart. She wants to walk around and be free. If I don't let her out she screams. What do you do with your kids when you shop?
When do you start time-outs? Is she too young still?

Random Update
This past weekend Drew flew home to Washington to interview at PNNL in Tri-Cities. It is the job we are really hoping he gets. It would mean we could live close to both of our families, and it is a job he is really interested in to boot. He spent countless hours preparing for the 40 minute presentation he had to give. He feels good about how the presentation and the other three interviews went. Now we just have to wait for the news. They told us we would know within two weeks. That seems like forever to me. We are crossing our fingers and saying our prayers.
Drew got to go wakeboarding while he was home which he was really excited about, but he ended up hurting his knee and now he can hardly walk. So that's not so exciting.
I am the second counselor in the Young Women program in our ward. I gave a talk in church on Sunday about virtue which is the new value in the Young Women Theme. I was so nervous about it as usual, but it ended up going really well and I am so grateful for that. After reading all about virtue because of this talk I can't stop thinking about how important it is to teach our children to live virtuous lives and what a major difference that can make in the world.
A couple Darcy updates:
- Where we live there are tons of cobblestone roads everywhere. Darcy has learned if she says "ahhhhhh" while we drive on these bumpy roads her voice will shake and she loves it so she does it over and over for the whole ride. Basically every week Darcy falls asleep on the way home from church. Last week she was making her "ahhh" noise on the way home from church. At one point I was really surprised she hadn't fallen asleep yet so I looked back at her. It turns out she actually was asleep she was just still making her "ahhh" noise. Drew and I couldn't stop laughing about it.
- She snuggles with her teddy bear who we named Wayne.
- She loves shoes. She always goes and gets our shoes and her shoes and brings them to us. If we don't put them on it makes her mad. The other day she took Drew my bright pink crocs for him to put on. She finally squealed enough he gave in and put them on. It looked so funny!
- She just figured out how to go backwards down the stairs.
- Yesterday she went and grabbed the feather duster and started dusting the TV. I don't know if I should be happy that she has taken the initiative to do chores herself, or sad because she felt like the TV was so dusty she just had to do something about it. :)
Here are a couple random pictures from this week.
This is her favorite thing to do at the moment. She loves to go outside and sit on our step and then go for little walks around our apartment.
I am so happy I captured this moment. This is classic of her. She is in the middle of throwing her head back and fake laughing. It is so funny.
I just bought her this hoodie at Carters and I think she looks so cute in it!

Make-Shift Pool
I kind of had a rough time adjusting to being home alone with Darcy again after having family here for two weeks to help entertain her. For the first couple days after everyone left she was really cranky and I honestly couldn't remember what I was supposed to do. I hardly had to do anything for her with everyone here. I decided I was being way too boring for her and I had to put my thinking cap on. We went on long walks outside in the morning, but it was soo hot outside during the day it was no fun to go out. My solution was a little make-shift pool. I emptied my sewing container and filled it with water and toys. Darcy loved it. I am glad that worked, but I need more ideas. She is one BUSY girl!
Lots of pictures of the same thing, but I just think they are all funny. I wondered a little what the neighbors might have been thinking. Probably that we are hillbillies. I won't deny it.
